well I've just come back from the Bristol planet mu gig and it was amazing! Every single artist was fantastic: Leafcutter in a sort of weird ambient quasi-Autechre type thing (at one point he had a table miked up and was whacking it with beer bottles)... Capitol K did only a few tunes, basically skronked-up album tracks with perfect singing and I think he used a theremin at one point... Jega was really good, especially when he played a brand-new tune at the end which sounded like lots of little '94-era jungle amen-breaks, all chopped up and spliced together in weird patterns; I had a little chat with him afterwards and he said he'd only just finished that one, and he showed me how he made the tunes live with his laptop... mike p's dj set was ace, mainly hard drum'n'bass that I didn't really recognise, but I had to get up and really dance when I heard hrvatski's kid606 remix, oh yeah... and as for hellfish, well... sounded basically like happy hardcore without the happy, all mashed up to the point where the beats were disappearing in static, fucking mental. there was some oriental guy there as well doing the coolest dancing I have ever seen... at one point he seemed to be crawling on the floor, hopping his knees up and down to the beat... oh yeah, what a night! Anthony.

fuck YEAH!! definitely a top night out and my faith in electronic music is restored!!!!!!!!! wasn't too big on capitol k or leafcutter john.. but jega.. he the man.. how many people did hrvatski's kid606 remix get on the dancefloor???!!?! WOW ! was bangin' massive style..... so so so so WEIRD to see people dancing to this music in bristol, and so refreshing!! mike paradinas also played muthafukkinhardcore venetian snares and some vvm i think.. :) he the man.... one of the best djs i've seen in a VERY long time.. hellfish+producer kinda cleared the venue, but still entertaining nonetheless.. but then i headed upstairs to the room with less devestating hardcore to hear arovane and phonem... mmmmmmmm. wicked. fun fun FUN!!!!!!!!! tomx --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Yea, he dropped something like 6 Venetian Snares vs. Speed Ranch songs when I saw him in London. Fucking awesome. When I yelled "MORE VENETIAN SNARES," he and the guy with that freaky one-dread thing that hung out next to him the whole time just looked shocked that I recognized it. I'll post a proper review of this and the drum and bass night at Fabric last night when I am not paying out the ass at some Internet cafe. -- :: atomly :: atomly@atomly.com | atomly@atdot.org | atomly@curiousnetworks.com http://www.atomly.com | http://www.mp3.com/atomly --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
